This Summer we gathered a group of gals and decided to plan an unforgettable adventure, glamping in Moab Utah. What is glamping? Glamorous Camping (i.e. beautiful tents and comfy beds in the remote outdoors under the wide open sky). Personally, it’s my favorite way to travel. I lead a lot of “Girl Boss” Trips, and this was by far one of my favorite.
Moab is an adventure paradise, with Arches and Canyonlands National Parks within 15-20 minutes. I’ve created an entire guide of my favorite hikes, sights, and adventures in Moab and will touch on a few here as well.
My favorite part of Glamping in Moab? The dark sky, warm desert, and views for miles. The tents are adorable, and dinner under the stars incredible. First, let me give you a tour of the tent.
Each tent is situated in it’s own little corner of the desert, 50 feet away from any other tent, within 100 feet of parking, and maximum 200 feet of a communal bathroom and outdoor dining area. The spacing allows you to feel like you are remote, yet close enough to basic amenities should you need them. The inside of the tents are adorable – ours had 2 twin beds (but there are plenty of king options), an eco-friendly jute rug, side tables with lamps & fans, leather camp chairs, an ottoman, and the most adorable Tribal Pillow Cases & Blankets. At the end of the trip, many of us asked if we could buy the mattresses, they are so comfortable!
While the interior is beautiful, it’s the exterior, the views that are stunning. Wander Camp’s Mission Statement is: “Never Miss a Sunrise” and all their tents either have a sunrise or sunset view, so you can witness nature’s most beautiful morning or evening light display. The chairs are beautiful, yet portable — so you can pull them outside and enjoy the stars as the night becomes black. Enjoy s’mores and Hotdogs around the fire or cater an elaborate Dinner Under the Stars, like we did with Mint Collective.
Each day started with an early morning sunrise visit to the Parks, including The Windows and Delicate Arch (Arches) and Mesa Arch (Canyonlands). Prioritize waking up early when you visit, the sunrise view is amazing. Breakfast consisted mostly of Grab and Go items, since we were always on the move!
The first day we spent a full day in Arches National Park, visiting the Windows, Delicate Arch in the morning taking a break in Moab during the heat of the day and hiking Corona Arch in the evening. We grabbed lunch in Moab town or packed it to go (ask Wander Camp for packed lunch options).
The second day we woke up early to visit Mesa Arch in Canyonlands and hike in Dead Horse Point State Park. We took a break mid-day to raft the Colorado River (remember it gets hot in the desert middle of the day, so plan accordingly) and then enjoy a free afternoon in Moab before heading back to camp for another amazing Dinner Under the Stars.
Glamping is a great way to explore with friends, in a way that is safe, remote, and adventurous. While it’s very different than staying at a hotel, it provides you all the comforts you don’t get while camping.
So who wants to go Glamping?
