Adventures Your Way
The Wander Camp team knows how important it is to forge your own path! Making decisions today can shape your future toward a happier healthier life! The ability to choose and explore is one of the reasons we love the great outdoors so much. Nature has provided us with so many opportunities for new discoveries, growth, and connections. We live for untouched wilderness, gorgeous landscapes, and stunning sunrises. Thus Wander Camp was born, a glamping mobile tent property with no boundaries. We believe that everyone was born with the right to the same freedom experienced in nature, no boundaries necessary!
Move How You Choose
One of the experiences the outdoors lends itself best to is physical activity, moving your body while enjoying the views of nature’s beauty. While many races and events are structured we find that sometimes it can be even more fun to make your own track! Heading into nature is one of the best ways to reach your physical activity goals, everything we do is better with a view! At our campsite in Moab, Southern Utah, you will be in close proximity to all the locations that make up the most gorgeous “choose-your-own-adventure triathlon”. The traditional triathlon is often crowded and can end up being expensive. Take a step off the beaten path where swimming, running, and biking have never been so enjoyable, take it all in with the stunning backdrop of Moab’s red rock masterpiece!
On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!
Start off the first leg on your adventure triathlon with a swim! Triathlons traditionally start with a 1.5 kilometer (.93 mile) lap in the water. The Moab area has a few watering holes which are excellent for fishing or splashing around. Our best tip for making the most of the start of your “DIY race” is to head over to Ken’s Lake. Ken’s Lake is a beautiful body of water located on the Bureau of Land Management land in Moab. It is free for anyone to come and enjoy the lake! Make sure to stretch out before you start your laps, the water will be cool but so worth it! Take advantage of Ken’s Lake’s openness and pristine water as a way to get inspired about making the most of your Moab trip and triathlon adventure!
Keep On Moving!
With the swim under your belt, you are ready to move on in your race! The next stretch of a triathlon is the biking portion! The bike ride typically consists of 40 km (24.9 miles) but, it is your triathlon so make it your own! No matter how far you choose to bike, Moab is the place to do it! Bike trails abound in Moab, see a ranking of difficulties here and you can decide which trail you’d like to take on! One of the most famous trails is Slickrock, an intermediate ride that promises an adrenaline rush while also providing stunning views of Moab’s classic red rock mountains. Pedal your way through the air as you climb mountains and explore what nature has to offer. The second leg of your adventure race will have you feeling accomplished and proud of what your body can do! The bike trails in this special location are any triathletes dream for maximum effort and rewards!
Finish Line!
The third and final stretch of your triathlon will have you feeling tired and inspired from what all you have seen and done in Southern Utah! We know that true adventurers are strong and ready to take on what comes their way next! The last feat in your race is a 5k (3.1 miles) run to cross the finish line. This run goes beyond a boring paved road, this is an adventure triathlon after all, and in Moab, you have the opportunity to do much more! Enter one of our favorite places, Arches National Park which is a runner’s playground! Expanses of trails are waiting for you to explore and take in the views of Arches’ natural beauty. We recommend taking the Devil’s Arch trailhead, where you can see the longest arch in the park, Landscape Arch. Take your run in the early morning to take advantage of the cooler weather, and to witness a stunning display of art as the sun rises and paints the red rocks with its light.
