Planning a camping trip and don’t know what food to pack or what meals to prepare? One of the most stressful parts of camping can be deciding or even finding meals that can be easily made at a campsite. Here are 7 campfire/dutch oven meals to make while camping!

Walking Tacos

One of our personal favorites are Walking Tacos. There are a variety of ways to make you taco. Generally they consist of taco-seasoned ground beef, corn chips, and then any toppings you would like in it. What makes it a “Walking” Taco is because the corn chips come in small individual bag (think Frito’s) and you just mix everything together inside of the bag. Then you can just walk around with your food!

Cornbread Chili

This fantastic dutch oven meal is sure to make your mouth water! While dutch ovens can be intimidating if you are using them for the first time, there are sites that can help! All you need is salsa, chili peppers, tomatoes, beans, corn, chili powder, water, cornbread mix, eggs, and milk. The recipe is easy to follow and doesn’t take much time to make.

Camping Quesadillas

One of my family’s favorite quick and easy meals to make are quesadillas which are also easy to make when camping! All you need is your favorite quesadilla recipe, tin foil, and a campfire and you are all set!

Beef and Veggie Tin Foil Dinners

This recipe is a little more vague, but it also allows the person cooking a ton of freedom to cater the food to their tastes. Pick any type of meat and veggies, follow the instructions, put it in some tinfoil, and cook it over a campfire. It’s a guaranteed hit!

Campfire Nachos

Campfire Nachos meal can be made in a dutch oven, small cast-iron skillet, or even a plate wrapped in tin foil. Much like the Tin Foil Dinners, the nachos are very easy to adjust to your preferences. You can cater it to your tastes! Just choose your toppings and follow the instructions on how to cook it and you are all set!

5 Can Chili

By far one of the easiest meals to make! It’s pretty straightforward. All you need is a can of red kidney beans, black beans, and diced tomatoes. Add onions, chipotle peppers in abodo sauce, cumin, pepper, and or whatever else you enjoy in your chili. On a cold, chilly night a night this will warm you right up!

French Toast

Breakfast for dinner hits the spot and french toast over the campfire isn’t any different. You can make your normal french toast recipe. We recommend tearing your bread into smaller pieces so that they can cook faster. You also need to put down parchment paper to prevent it from sticking to the dutch oven.
